Two drivers, race winner Nathan Crews and apparent fifth-place finisher Daniel Crews, both of Long Island, were disqualified in the wake of Saturday night’s 30-lap Pure Stock Division race at South Boston Speedway.
A post-race inspection by track NASCAR officials revealed technical violations with respect to the two cars.
With the disqualification of apparent race winner Nathan Crews, Trey Crews of Halifax, the second-place finisher has been awarded the win. The win is the third of the season for the Halifax resident.
The disqualification of the two drivers moved defending division champion Joe Allred III of Scottsburg to second place in the official rundown, with Randy Hupp of Halifax moving to third place, Courtney Crosby of Scottsburg gaining fourth place and Jake Brown of Cluster Springs moving up to round out the top five finishers.
Allred now holds a slim one-point lead over Trey Crews with four races remaining in the chase for the Pure Stock Division title.
