Devan Richardson garnered three top-10 finishes, and Tyrika Lee had a pair of top-10 finishes, as the Halifax County High School indoor track team finished its season on a high note at the Group 5A State Indoor Track & Field Championships, held at the Boo Williams Sports Complex in Hampton.
Halifax County boys finished with seven points, good for 26th-place, while Halifax County girls finished in a three-way tie for 28th-place with five points.
Richardson finished fifth in the 500-meter dash with a time of 6.63 seconds (four points), seventh in the triple jump at a distance of 43-02.00 (two points) and eighth in the long jump at 19-10.50 (one point).
Lee finished sixth in the 55-meter dash with a time of 7.38 seconds (three points) and seventh in the 300-meter dash with a time of 42.98 seconds (two points).
Additional results saw Roland Brandon finishing 11th in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 8.32 seconds, Treyquan Holt finishing 12th in the shot put at a distance of 41-09.00, and William Brooks finishing 10th in the 300 with a time of 37.59 seconds.
Tyrika Lee and teammates Essence Miller, Shanita Johnson and E’Lisha Lee finished in 11th-place in the 4x200-meter relay with a time of 1:48.51.
Highland Springs High School won the 5A state championship in the boys meet with 80 points, and Atlee High School won the 5A state championship in the girls meet with 67 points.
