Four members of the Halifax County High School baseball team have earned First Team honors on the All Western Valley District Baseball Team.
In all, nine Comets players were named to the all-district team.
Comets third baseman Patrick Barton, outfielders Ryan Yates and Tyler Stephens and shortstop Nick Anderson all earned First Team honors.
Barton batted .488 for the Comets, with Stephens batting .461 and Yates hitting for an average of .438. Anderson hit .327 for the season.
Barton had four home runs for the Comets this season with Stephens and Yates having three round-trippers each.
All four of the Comets players that earned First Team accolades are eligible for the voting for the All Northwest Region Baseball Team.
Comets second baseman Will Harris, pitcher Seth Elliott and designated hitter Thomas Cole earned Second Team honors.
Harris batted .387 for the season, Elliott compiled an earned run average of 2.46 for the season and Cole batted .545 for the season, with nine of the 18 hits he had for the season being doubles.
Comets first baseman Andrew Hamlett, outfielder Rufus Jeffress and catcher Tristan Howerton each earned Honorable mention accolades for their play this season.
Jeffress batted .385 for the Comets, with Howerton batting .346 and Hamlett batting .244.
GW pitcher Blake Bivens earned Player of the Year honors in the Western Valley District. Bivens recorded an earned run average of 0.39 for the season, the best in the district. He was 9-0 for the season and recorded 98 strikeouts against 18 walks.
