Meet The Comets, a pre-season Halifax County High School football event, will be held Wednesday, Aug. 15 from 5:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Tuck Dillard Stadium.
Admission will be $7 per person for the fund-raising event for the Halifax County High School football program. A meal is included in the admission price.
Halifax County High School Head Varsity Football Coach Michael Roark said a concession stand will be in operation and that members of the Football Booster Club will be selling Comets football t-shirts and other items.
Fans attending the Meet The Comets event will have the opportunity to get an early look at all three of the Halifax County High School football teams.
The Comets freshman football team will take the field and will scrimmage from 5:30 p.m. until 6 p.m. After that, the Comets junior varsity team will scrimmage from 6:15 p.m. until 6:45 p.m. The evening will conclude with the varsity team scrimmaging from 7 p.m. until 7:45 p.m.
The Meet The Comets event is a prelude to Halifax County High School’s VHSL Benefit Game, which will be played at Tuck Dillard Stadium on Friday night, August 17.
Halifax County High School will square off against Buckingham County at 7 p.m. that night. Also that night, the Comets junior varsity team will scrimmage the Buckingham junior varsity team at 5 p.m. on the Halifax County High School football practice field.
Roark said the high school football program has equipment needs and that donations to the program would be appreciated. Persons wishing to make donations to the football program should contact Roark at 434-572-3497 for additional information.
