Storms force postponement of Halifax games

The severe thunderstorm that rocked Halifax County late Tuesday afternoon and thunderstorms in Rocky Mount have forced postponement of tonight’s Halifax County High School athletic contests.

Tonight’s Halifax County High School Senior Night varsity baseball game against Franklin County High School has been rescheduled for Wednesday at 5 p.m., field conditions permitting. A Senior Night ceremony will be held at 4:45 p.m.

The Comets junior varsity baseball doubleheader against Franklin County High School that was scheduled for today at C.H. Friend Field has been rescheduled for Wednesday at 4:30 p.m., field conditions permitting.

Also, tonight’s scheduled boys soccer games against Franklin County High School have been postponed and rescheduled for Wednesday, with junior varsity action starting at 5 p.m. and the varsity game starting at 6:30 p.m.

Tonight’s varsity and junior varsity softball games that were scheduled at Franklin County High School were postponed due to thunderstorms in Rocky Mount. Those games have been rescheduled for Wednesday at 6 p.m., field conditions permitting.

In addition, tonight’s scheduled girls soccer games at Franklin County High School were postponed and rescheduled for Wednesday, with junior varsity action starting at 5:30 p.m. and varsity action starting at 7 p.m.
