Comets teams slated to open season today

With winter weather hanging on in the area through the first part of the week, the scheduled season-opening contests for Halifax County High School’s spring sports teams have been pushed back to today.

The Comets baseball teams will be in action at Halifax County High School today, with the Comets facing Park View High School of South Hill. Action starts at 4 p.m. with a junior varsity game, with the varsity contest starting at 6 p.m.

Also today, the Comets softball team kicks off their season, with the Comets diamonders facing Martinsville High School at 5 p.m. at Halifax County High School.

The Comets boys soccer team will kick off its season today, facing Martinsville High School here at Tuck Dillard Memorial Stadium. Junior varsity action will start at 5 p.m., with the varsity contest to follow at 6:30 p.m. 

Tennis is also on tap today, with the Comets boys tennis team hosting Patrick County High School at 4:30 p.m. The Comets girls tennis team goes on the road to face Patrick County High School in Stuart, with that contest starting at 4:30 p.m.
