Trio Of State Tournaments Open In Halifax Today

Today ushers in a big week of baseball in South Boston and Halifax County as the community plays host to three state baseball tournaments.

American Darlings Capture Second Straight State Title

Savanna Cabaniss, Karina Velazquez and Kayla Walker slammed home runs, Lauryn Chappell had a 3-3 day at the plate, and the Halifax American Darlings all-stars won their second straight Virginia Dixie Softball Darlings state title with an 18-7 win over Amherst National Tuesday in Farmville.

American Angels Claim Dixie Softball State Title

The Halifax American Angels all-stars saved their best for last and it paid off handsomely Tuesday night for a 13-5 win over Powhatan National in the Virginia Dixie Softball Angels State Tournament championship game.

Scottsburg Wins Major League Sub-District Title

Arthur Joe Watts hit his fourth home run of the tournament, Kory Lennon struck out 10 batters in four innings, and Scottsburg completed an unbeaten run through the Dixie Youth Baseball District 2 West Sub-District title Monday with a 13-3 win over Halifax County South (HCS).
