Former HCHS coach named to post at Arizona All-Stars Basketball Academy

Former Halifax County High School boys basketball coach Lynn Ramage has been named Assistant Director of Basketball Operations of the Arizona All-Stars Basketball Academy.

Ramage will be head coach of the Academy’s Post-Grad program and will assume coaching and training duties with all teams from the 4th-varsity levels of the basketball training and development organization. As a leader in the overall operation of one of Arizona’s oldest school of basketball institutions, Ramage’s role will also include hiring, developing and supervising the coaching staff.

Widely known as a disciplinarian and recruiter, Ramage is entering his 30th year coaching with 22 of them in the collegiate ranks. He has been a head coach at every level in the college game, having served as head coach at Division I Morgan State, Division II schools Davis & Elkins, Kutztown and East Stroudsburg and Division III schools Connecticut College and Greensboro College.

In addition, he has served as a head coach at the Junior College level at Chesapeake College, at the Prep School level at Millersburg Military Institute and at the high school level at Halifax County High School.

Ramage served as head varsity boys basketball coach at Halifax County High School for three seasons and compiled an overall record of 33-30, which included an overall record of 10-18 against Western Valley District opponents.

Ramage had a pair of 12-win seasons during his coaching stint at Halifax County High School. In the 2009-2010 season, his last season as head coach of the Comets basketball team, the Comets achieved the best overall record of Ramage’s tenure with its 12-8 slate and a 4-4 mark against district teams.

Halifax County High School finished third in the district standings that season after having finished fifth in the district in both of Ramage’s first two seasons as the Comets’ head coach.

In addition to the extensive coaching experience at all levels, Ramage has worked camps all over the world such as Five Star, Hoop Group, Score Big Camps (Trinidad) and All American Basketball (Geneva, Switzerland).
