‘Battle For The Belts’ coming to high school

Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling has staged impressive events in South Boston in recent years, but the biggest is right around the corner.

The MACW “Battle For The Belts,” an event in which almost every division title will be on the line, will be held at Halifax County High School Sat. March 16, with belltime at 8 p.m. Doors will open at 7 p.m.

A portion of the proceeds raised from the event will go toward the Halifax County Sheriff’s Department crime prevention initiative.

TNA wrestling star Jeff Jarrett, who is a former WWE and WCW champion, will be one of the top stars on the night’s card. He is tentatively scheduled to face “Big Poppa Pump” Scott Steiner for the Hardcore title.

“We have always had great crowds at Halifax County High School,” remarked Ricky Nelson, who heads up MACW.

“This is the biggest card we have had since we started doing the show in South Boston. Every belt we have except for the ladies belt will be on the line that night. With the MACW stars we have and Jeff Jarrett coming in to battle “Big Poppa Pump” Scott Steiner for the Hardcore title, it’s going to be a tremendous show.”

Nelson, the current MACW Heavyweight Champion, may be making his final South Boston appearance as a full-time competitor. He will face the legendary Ricky Morton in a battle for that belt.

In another of the major bouts scheduled for that night, Jeff “The Feature Presentation” Lewis will face Buff “The Stuff” Bagwell in a title match.

The “Battle For The Belts” event will also include other matches to make for an exciting full night of MACW wrestling.

Ringside seats for the event are priced at $15 each. General admission tickets are $10 each.

“We have lowered the ticket prices for this event,” Nelson pointed out.

“The last time we were here ringside seats were $20. This is a big event and we want Halifax County High School to be packed. We won’t be back to South Boston again until January of 2014, so we encourage everyone to come out and enjoy this big event.

Advance tickets are available at Bo’s Hydraulics, The Scissor Shack, Halifax County High School and at the door on the night of the event.
