Titles on line in ‘SuperBrawl’

Every major title in the Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling fold will be on the line here Saturday night in the MACW SuperBrawl at Halifax County High School.

Bell time is 8 p.m. for the event that is being staged as a fund-raising event for the Halifax County High School Athletic Department.

In one of Saturday’s premier bouts, popular former WWE star Matt Hardy will team up with well-known MACW star Buff “The Stuff” Bagwell to face “Mr. Mid-Atlantic” Rikki Nelson and Jeff “The Feature Presentation” Lewis for the currently vacant NWA World Tag Team Championship.

Fans will also see one of professional wrestling’s well-known longtime stars, “Big Poppa Pump” Scott Steiner square off against TNA star Gunner for the MACW Hardcore title.

“I have known both Scott and Rick Steiner since they broke into the business,” Nelson pointed out.

“Scott and I wrestled when we were in the Memphis, Tenn. area, back when Jerry Lawler and Bill Dundee and all of those guys were in Mid-South. We go way back.

“He (Scott Steiner) made a big name for himself in the WCW, and in the WWF he was a big star with his brother.

“Scott’s a big star and he’s headed toward the end of his career,” Nelson added.

“He’s not going to give up anything to anybody. You’d better be ready when you face him.”

In another of Saturday night’s matches, Chris Hamrick and Chase Owens will go head-to-head in a bout for the MACW Junior Heavyweight Championship. In a big Ladies Division match, Jamye Jamison and Reby Sky will face each other for division title. Jamison emerged as the winner when the pair faced each other here earlier this year.

Tickets for the event are priced at $20 for ringside seats and $12 for general admission tickets.

Advance tickets may be purchased at Bo’s Hydraulics and The Scissor Shack.
