Three home runs in two games on Sunday have helped give the Halifax American Debs all-stars a 3-0 record in the Dixie Softball Debs state tournament in Lunenburg.
VeVe Brandon’s two-run homer helped give Halifax a 13-1 win over Amherst, while Jill Trickey slugged a three-run homer and Jamilia Smith a two-run homer later in the day in a 15-0 win over Emporia.
Halifax American was scheduled to play Lunenburg on Monday night, seeking its fourth win of the tournament.

A seven-run first inning helped propel Halifax to a big win over Emporia, and the runs continued to pile up in the next four innings.
Halifax American scored two runs in the second, one in the third, two in the fourth and three in the fifth inning to end the game.
Trickey went 2-3 with a three-run home run, Jamilia Smith went 2-4 with a two-run homer, and Jameshia Smith went 3-3 for the game.
Brandon and Lindsey Wilkins each went 2-2, Dalyn Hall and Tayler Mosely each went 2-3, Kate Bane went 1-2, and Meg Bane and Jennifer Lacks each went 1-3 in the win.
Courtney Epps pitched the first two innings for Halifax American, Hall came on for the third inning and Lacks the fourth, while Meg Bane pitched the fifth and final inning.

Brandon went 2-3, including a two-run home run, and Halifax American again won after five innings in the rout of Amherst.
Hall also had a 2-3 game at the plate, while Kate Bane, Meg Bane, Lacks, Mosley and Jamilia Smith each contributed a hit.
Wilkins, Kate Bane, Hall and Epps each pitched for Halifax American, with Wilkins going the first two innings and Bane, Hall and Epps each hurling one inning.
The foursome combined to give up only two hits.
