Halifax American Belles win one, lose one in state tourney

The Halifax American Belles’ record in the Dixie Softball Virginia State Tournament stands at 1-1 after a 10-3 win against Clarksville on Saturday and a 7-0 loss against South Hill later that same day.

South Hill scored four runs in the bottom of the fourth inning and three in the bottom of the sixth to defeat Halifax American.

Tatiana Roberson and Bria McCargo had singles for Halifax American against South Hill, while Sidney McLamb pitched four innings, striking out three batters.

Erica Allgood hurled the final three innings, finishing with one strikeout.

Halifax American defeated Clarksville 10-3 in its opener, scoring two runs in the second inning, three in the fourth, one in the fifth and four runs in the sixth inning.

Clarksville scored three runs in the fourth inning.

Halifax American pounded out 15 hits in the win, with Allgood finishing with a double, two singles and three RBIs.

Kye-Neisha Logan had two doubles and a single, Jamie Crews a single, triple, walk and one RBI, Sabrina Amos three base hits, McLamb a double and RBI and Lauren Spencer a double.

Roberson had a single and RBI, Gabrielle Spainhour a single and walk, Skye Harlow walked twice and had a two-run single, Shelbie Taylor had a double and walked, and McCargo and Allison Rudder each reached base via walks in the win.

McLamb and Allgood each saw time on the mound in the win, with McLamb pitching four innings and striking out five batters.

Allgood pitched three innings and struck out three batters.
