The South Boston Machine Pitch all-stars managed only 10 hits for the game and fell 24-3 in four innings to Emporia Monday in the District Dixie Youth Baseball Machine Pitch tournament being held in Emporia.
South Boston, which started the tournament with a 19-0 loss to Brunswick, had beaten Halifax 20-1 to stay alive in the tourney.
A slow start at the plate doomed South Boston against Emporia, with the host team scoring seven runs in the first inning to take a 7-0 lead.
Seven more runs in the second gave Emporia a 14-0 advantage, and they scored seven runs in the third and three in the fourth inning to take a 24-0 advantage.
South Boston, held to five base runners through three innings, got on the board in the bottom of the fourth inning on hits from Kenneth Fears, Trevor Riddle, Semaj Jeffreys, Damion Conner, Saeed Buster and Kameron Roberts.
That made the score 24-3, but that was as close as South Boston would get.
Riddle, Buster and Roberts each had two hits to lead South Boston, while Jeffreys, Conner, Jimmy Reaves and Fears added a hit apiece.
