High school boys tennis team set without making cuts to ’12 roster

Halifax County High School Head Boy’s Tennis Coach David Riddle is in the pleasant position of not having to make any cuts for his 2012 season roster. With 11 players coming out for the team, Riddle has been able to go with full-practice routines.

“It’s the number that I like to work with for this sport,” Riddle pointed out.

“We like to make sure that even the non-ladder players will have the opportunity to play when we have matches.”

A strong turnout for pre-season conditioning meant everyone showing up for tryouts was already in good physical shape, according to Riddle.

“We have more depth and experience than we have had the past two seasons,” said Riddle, noting his returnees include four players who competed the previous season in the top-six.

Three other players on the team have experience at the top part of the ladder.
