Halifax County-South Boston Sports Hall of Fame officials are accepting nominations for inductees into the Hall of Fame for 2012. The deadline for nominations is Jan. 31.
Members of Halifax County-South Boston Sports Hall of Fame are the only persons that can nominate individuals for induction into the Hall of Fame.
Nomination forms and membership applications may be obtained from Addison Marable by contacting him at 572-3031. The nomination forms and membership applications may also be obtained by writing to the Halifax County-South Boston Sports Hall Of Fame, P.O. Box 12, South Boston, Va. 24592.
Membership dues are $10 per year or $100 for a Lifetime Membership.
This year’s Hall of Fame Induction Banquet will be held Saturday, April 14 at Halifax County Middle School.
Persons eligible to be nominated for induction are individuals who are natives of Halifax County or South Boston whose achievements occurred while they were residing here in the county or elsewhere.
Nominees may also be persons who are long-time residents of South Boston and Halifax County, whether natives or not, whose achievements occurred here or elsewhere. Persons eligible for nomination may include individuals who are non-Halifax County natives and non-permanent Halifax County residents whose accomplishments occurred here in Halifax County.
Also, the individual nominated must have either been retired from his or her field of sport for a minimum of five years or be at least 50 years of age.
