JV volleyball handles Gretna in two games

Brianna Cunningham finishes with 12 service points, Maddie Jackson led with eight effective passes, and Lelia Conner finished with 16 good sets, as the Comets’ jayvee volleyball team rebounded from a lackluster loss to Park View to beat Gretna in two straight games at home on Thursday, 25-14, 25-21. Halifax played with more energy and purpose against Gretna than it did two nights before in the three-game loss to Park View, coach Jessica Martin observed.

“We played well tonight,” said Martin.  “Both games started out a little slow but we were able to get ahead and stay there.

“We moved our feet much better, and I feel like we played more as a team tonight.  We had a much better passing night and our attacks are getting better.

“I’m looking forward to having next week off, so we can tweak a few things before the match the following week at Person.”
