Cross-country team ready to travel for Granville invitational Monday

The Halifax County cross country team will be one of 12 squads from Virginia and North Carolina competing at the Second Annual Granville Cross Country Invitational on Monday. J.F. Webb High School is hosting the meet, thought to be the largest weekday event of its kind in North Carolina, Virginia and South Carolina, at the Masonic Home for Children on College Street in Oxford.

Boys and girls 5K races will start at 4:30 p.m. and 4:40 p.m., respectively, and a two-mile jayvee race will be held at approximately 5:30 p.m.

Including the host team, organizers expect teams from Kerr Vance Academy, Wood’s Charter of Chapel Hill, Halifax County, Grace Christian of Raleigh, East Wake Academy, North Raleigh Christian, Wake Christian, Ravenscroft of Raleigh, Westover Christian of Danville, South Granville and Granville Central.
