JV spikers improve to 2-0 with win at Gretna

Lelia Conner hit double figures in good sets with 11, and Conner, Logan Redd and Brianna Cunningham combined for 20 good serves and 14 service points, as the Comets’ jayvee volleyball team swept Gretna in two games on Thursday, 25-18, 25-13. The win gave the jayvees a 2-0 record heading into tomorrow’s home match with Person High School.

The Comets got off to a slow start in game one, but once they got the kinks worked out they were off and running, according to coach Jessica Martin.

“The first game we had a few jitters to work out, but once we got into a rhythm, everything smoothed out and we were able to get the win,” said Martin.

“For the second game, being able to string our serves together really helped us out.  It was a total team effort, and I hope we can keep this momentum going into Tuesday’s game with Person County.”
