Halifax American, behind solid hitting and strong pitching from Lindsey Wilkins, Kate Bane and Dalyn Hall, are in the final four of the Dixie Softball Debs World Series in Alexandria, Louisiana, after a 8-2 win over the host team on Monday.
Halifax scored two runs in the first, four in the second, and one run in each of the third and seventh innings to win the contest.
In the first inning, Bane reached base on an error, advanced on a single by Sydney Puryear and scored on an RBI single by Jill Trickey, before Puryear scored on a passed ball to make it 2-0 after one inning.
In the second, Halifax got singles from Brittany Long, Jessica Velazquez and VeVe Brandon, with Wilkins, Cori Campbell, Christian Martin and Brandon scoring.
Jennifer Lacks hit a solo home run in the third inning, and Bane drove home Velazquez in the top of the seventh inning for American’s final run.
Wilkins pitched the first five innings against Alexandria, with Bane and Hall finishing the game for Halifax American, which played Alabama on Tuesday night.
