The South Boston Pre-Majors all-star team dropped out of the Dixie Baseball Pre-Majors World Series this week in Independence, Louisiana with a 1-2 record after losing 19-4 Monday to Bossier City, Louisiana.
South Boston held a 1-0 lead after one inning, courtesy of a Jacob New home run, but Louisiana took a 4-1 lead after two frames with fur runs on a hit, two hit batsman and a South Boston error in the second.
South Boston got to within 4-3 in the top half of the third when Avery Anderson, Ryan Yates and J.T. Reeves hit consecutive singles, but Louisiana responded with two runs on three hits in the bottom of the third.
Louisiana scored a run on two hits in the fourth, South Boston added a run on a New triple and Tyler Dunn hit in the top of the fifth, and Louisiana added three runs on three hits in the bottom of the fifth to lead 10-4.
Eight runs in the sixth inning ended the game for Louisiana, which used four hits, two hit batsmen and two walks to plate the runs.
Nick Lewis, Chase Wilkerson, Tyler Wall, Hunter Watts and New shared time on the mound for South Boston against Bossier City, and they combined to strike out five batters.
