American Angels heading home after WS loss

The Halifax American Angels all-stars could manage only one hit, a fifth-inning single by Carol Fears, and they bowed out of the Dixie Softball Angels World Series Monday with a 5-0 loss to Mississippi in South Hill.

Mississippi scored one run in the first inning, and they added four runs in the second inning of the game.

Halifax American had four other base runners for the game, three on walks and another when Aliyah Chandler reached base after being hit by a pitch.

Madison Gunn started the game on the mound for American, and she hurled the first two and two-thirds innings before Jeri Lynn Tyler came to the mound.

Fears relieved Tyler and finished the game for Halifax American.
