The Halifax American Ponytails all-stars scored eight runs on three hits and four walks in its first at-bat Friday on the way to a 12-7 win over Halifax National in the third and deciding game for the Dixie Softball District 7 championship. Halifax American will represent District 7 at the Virginia Dixie Softball Ponytails State Tournament July 15 at Amherst.

Sydney Henderson’s two-run double and TyQuisha Harris’ two-run single capped an eight-run first inning, and American added two runs each in the second and fifth innings.
Megan Watts also singled in the first and Katie Gregory, Denia Rauls, Chinaiya Owen and Kennedy Dyer reached base via the free pass, while Kennedy Dyer added an RBI on a base-loaded walk.
National responded with six runs its first at-bat, highlighted by Amber Moore’s two-run triple, a double by Sara Moser and a single by Morgan Nelson. Skye Harlow and Lauren Chaney each reached base on an error and eventually scored on passed balls in the first inning for National.
Gregory, Watts and Rauls reached base in the second for American, Gregory and Rauls via the walk, with Gregory scoring on a passed ball and Watts on an RBI groundout by Owen.
National added a run in the fourth on a leadoff single by Madison Hailey, walk to Brittany Roller and RBI single by Anna Clowdis to cut the deficit to 10-7, but American added two runs in the sixth inning when Rauls reached base on an error, followed by two sacrifice groundouts to plate Rauls, with Owen collecting an RBI.
Katelyn Moser singled and later scored on an error for the final run of the game.
Henderson had another base hit in the game for American, which sent Sidney McLamb to the mound to hurl all six innings. McLamb finished with nine strikeouts.
Moore, Allgood and Abbey Bales pitched for National, the threesome combining for eight strikeouts in six innings.

Halifax National pounded out 11 hits, scoring 11 runs in the second inning and three in the fourth to beat American 14-0 and set up a deciding game for the District 7 championship.
Five hits came in the second inning, where Erica Allgood tripled, Moser doubled, and Lauren Chaney (two hits in the game), Faith Lester and Clowdis singled.
Hailey, Bales, Malasia Boyd and Moore drew walks and eventually scored. Brittany Roller reached base after being hit by a pitch and Nelson and Harlow collected each had an RBI groundout to produce two more runs.
Three more runs in the bottom of the fourth inning made it 14-0, on hits from Roller, Malasia Boyd, Nelson and Moser, with Clowdis reaching on an error and eventually scoring.
American could only manage one base runner through four innings, that coming when Katelyn Moser singled in the second frame.
Allgood started the game for National and pitched the first two innings, before Moore came on to finish the game.
American used two pitchers in the game, with Katie Gregory hurling into the second inning before Kennedy Dyer came on in relief.
Allgood and Moore combined for five strikeouts and Gregory and Dyer struck out a combined four batters.
