It took one extra inning, but the Halifax American all-stars stayed unbeaten in the Dixie Softball District 7 Tournament in Halifax with a 10-3 extra inning win over National on Sunday. American earned a bye to Wednesday’s round of games with the win, while National played Charlotte County last night in an elimination game.

A back-and-forth game saw American take a 1-0 lead in the second inning when Katelyn Moser reached on an error and scored on Chinaiya Owen’s base hit.
American added a run in the third when Katie Gregory reached base on an error and later scored on another miscue, but National responded in the third with a walk to Anna Clowdis, RBI double by Malaysia Boyd and a RBI single by Morgan Nelson to tie the game 2-2.
Both teams scored in the fifth inning. Gregory was hit by a pitch and later scored on a Megan Watts RBI single for American, and Lauren Chaney doubled and scored on a RBI double by Brittany Roller.
After a scoreless sixth inning, American won the game in the seventh with hits from Mackenzie Francis, Tyquisha Harris, Kennedy Dyer (RBI) and Denia Rauls (RBI). Watts drew a bases-loaded walk for an RBI, and Gregory walked and scored in the inning.
Watts had two other hits for the game for American, while Sidney McLamb and Owen each had two hits, and Blair Bomar, Gregory and Sydney Henderson a hit apiece.
Nelson and Skye Harlow each had two hits for National, while Chaney, Roller and Abbey Bales each slugged a double.
Gregory pitched innings one and two for American, Dyer pitched the third, McLamb the fourth, Dyer the fifth and McLamb the final two innings, with the trio combining for 12 strikeouts.
Erica Allgood went the distance for National, striking out eight batters in seven innings.
