After almost a season-long drought, the Comets varsity girls’ soccer team is starting to find the net, with three goals in the past two games. Unfortunately, it hasn’t translated into wins, and such was the case Friday at home against Patrick Henry, with the Patriots notching an 8-1 win.
Patrick Henry scored the first five goals of the game before Jaynee Campbell, on an assist from Trudy Thomas, scored the Comets’ goal at the 20:10 mark of the first half with a shot that found the upper right corner of the net.
That was if for Halifax, as Patrick Henry added three more goals to get the win.
Halifax County (0-7 WVD, 1-13) finished with nine shots on goal, compared top 18 for Patrick Henry, and Comets’ keeper Jasmyne Crawley had six saves, compared to four for the Patriots’ keeper.
The Comets travel to Western Valley District opponent William Fleming tomorrow, with game time at 7 p.m., and finish their season Wednesday at home against Magna Vista.
