The Halifax American Darlings all-stars completed an unbeaten run through the Dixie Softball District 7 Tournament Monday with a 16-5 win over Halifax National to win the district title. American reached the title game with a 16-10 win over National and a 28-7 win over Brookneal, while National rebounded from its first loss to American with a 19-12 win over Motley and a 26-16 win over Brookneal to get a rematch with American.
Halifax American, defending Virginia Dixie Softball Darlings state champions, travels to Farmville for the state tournament starting July 9.

Savanna Cabaniss slugged two home runs, one a three-run shot in the third inning, and Cassidy Walker (RBI) added a home run in addition to a single for American.
Karina Velazquez slugged a triple and Jeri Tyler, Dee Dee Jeffress, Kayla Walker, Lauryn Chappell, Shekeria Chandler added base hits for American, while Hailie Lawhorn added an RBI.
The game was close through three innings before American pulled away, with the contest tied at 2-2 after one inning.
American led 4-3 after two innings and 7-4 after three innings before outscoring National 8-1 in the fourth inning and ending the game with Cabaniss’ home run in the fifth.
Sydney Wilborn and Jada Brandon scored runs for National in the first inning, and Porsche Brandon crossed the plate for National in the third. Katie Cole (RBI) plated Jada Brandon in the third and Gracie Wagstaff drove home Porsche Brandon in the fourth for National.
Hal. National 26 Brookneal 16 (Sunday)
Jada Brandon hit two home runs and added a single, Kerrie Reaves added another homer, and Wilborn went 3-4 with three base hits for National in the win over Brookneal.
Alyssa Spencer hit a double and single, and Cole Porsche Brandon, Wagstaff, Madison Vargas and Amy Wilson added base hits for National, which took a 7-5 lead after one inning.
National led 10-6 after two innings and outscored Brookneal 7-4 in the third and 7-6 in the fourth inning to seal the win.
