Former Comets Earn USA South Honors

Former Comets’ softball standouts Lauren Daniel and Whitney Womack have capped outstanding freshman seasons by being named to the USA South All-Conference First Team, while another Comets’ standout, Jasmine Parker, a senior at Ferrum, has been named to the USA South All-Sportsmanship Team. Daniel, a freshman outfielder at Averett, batted .448 in 29 games.  She scored 15 runs, drove in 12 runs and had nine doubles, one triple and one home run, in addition to stealing three bases in three attempts.

Womack, a freshman first baseman for Ferrum College, had 39 hits in 113 at-bats in 40 games for a .345 average.  She scored 16 runs, drove in 33 runs and had 10 doubles and four home runs.

Jasmine Parker, an outfielder and the only senior on Ferrum’s softball roster, made the USA South All-Sportsmanship Team.

Parker missed 10 of her team’s 40 games due to injury, but still had 21 hits in 88 at-bats for a .239 average.

She scored 11 runs, drove in 10 runs and had two doubles, one triple and one home run, in addition to stealing two bases in four attempts.
