Former Comets quarterback Jacob Hodges is listed on the University of Virginia’s 2010 football roster as a 5-11, 185-pound wide receiver. But, the graduate of Mountain View High School in Stafford and rising junior at UVa may do something different for the Wahoos this coming season, holding for extra points and field goals.
At Mountain View, Hodges played quarterback and served as a holder, so he has experience at the position.
Hodges was a student-manager for the team his first two years in college, but answered the call last month when members of the student body were invited to try out for the team.
Two holders for the Cavaliers last season have moved on, and there are others working at the holder’s position this year, but Hodges reportedly stands a good chance at getting game action this coming season.
Hodges, the son of former Comets head football coach James Hodges and Sarah Slayton Hodges, was expected to see action at the Cavaliers’ Spring Football Festival intra-squad scrimmage last Saturday.
