Halifax County has experienced a rash of fires over the past few days, more so than usual it seems, even though this is the time of the year when everyone is cranking up the woodheaters, electric space heaters and furnaces as the temperatures dip.

Super expensive, super cold

The Super Bowl is upon us again, so get used to two weeks of endless commercial promos, countless biographies of numerous players and mind-numbing accounts of how they made it this far, complete with the usual sappy background music.
