$48 annual Halifax County trash fee explained

The Halifax County Solid Waste Disposal Authority recently was formed by the Halifax County Board of Supervisors.  This action permits the county to place the operation of the county’s solid waste transfer station and the transportation of solid waste from the transfer station to the regional landfill in Mecklenburg County under control of the authority.

Good friend Isaac

If there ever was a case for good timing, the appearance of Hurricane Isaac, or its remnants, was just that for many areas of the country.

Leaving a legacy

Halifax County lost one of its most generous benefactors last Tuesday with the passing of Eva Jean Maddox Harris who died at her home at the age of 71.  

‘Good old days’ relived

Plans are in the works for the “mother of class reunions,” and anyone who ever attended any grade at C. H. Friend High School between 1938 and 1953 is invited to attend -- and that includes a great number of our county residents.
