Some things can never be understood or explained.
The horrific slaying in Newtown, Connecticut of 12 little girls and eight innocent young boys along with six caring adults falls into this category.
It’s not something you can wrap your mind around.
Many question what is out there that would possess a person to become so enraged they would violently turn a high-powered assault rifle on a room full of 6-year-old first graders.
But another pressing question bothering me equally as much is what caused the shooter to hate his mother so much he would kill her first before setting out on this rampage.
We, like many others across this nation, are searching for explanations, but in instances such as this, I just have to believe there are no answers that can satisfy.
Evil — it’s simply inexplicable, but it exists.
This is my last column before the big day, and I want to take the opportunity to wish for you all the goodness of Christmas. Remember, Jesus is the reason for the season.
May the Lord bless you and your family this holiday season, and may He grant you peace and love at this most holy and sacred time of the year.
