Not given a chance

To the editor:

After being employed in textiles for 24 years, being a certified nursing assistant for 20 years, I decided to further my education. I became a student of Southside Community College in July of 2013 and graduated May 10, 2014, with a career studies certificate in medical office assistant.

I have applied for several positions in Halifax, South Boston and even Brookneal. I received letters from most of them thanking me for applying, but they had picked someone else in which “qualifications better matched the position.”

How can you get the experience when you are not given a chance? Are they just going through the process, because they have someone else in mind? I am not giving up. I will keep trying.

Thank you,

Janice H. Carrington
