Ophelia Wilmouth Epps

Mrs. Ophelia Wilmouth Epps of Dan River Church Road, South Boston, died Friday, Dec. 21, 2012, at The Woodview. She was born in Halifax County on Nov. 23, 1922 and was 90 years old. She was the daughter of the late Oscar Wilmouth and Etta Gravitt Wilmouth and was married to the late James David “Jimmy” Epps Sr. She was a member of Dan River Baptist Church.

Fannie Alice Hankins Cole

Mrs. Fannie Alice Hankins Cole of River Road, South Boston died Dec. 16 at Berry Hill Nursing Home at the age of 88.

Mildred Adams Mangum

Mildred Adams Mangum of South Boston died at her home Dec. 17, 2012 at the age of 87.

Charles Edward Carr

Mr. Charles Edward Carr, age 68, formerly of Nathalie, died Sunday, Dec. 16, 2012, in Triangle. He was the son of the late Beverly and Thelma Carr. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosa Carr; a sister, Lucy Carr; and two brothers, Douglas and George Carr. 

Junius ‘June’ Barksdale

Mr. Junius “June” Barksdale of Clay Street, South Boston, died Dec. 13 at Halifax Regional Hospital at the age of 69.

Catherine Foster Green Matthews

Mrs. Catherine Foster Green Matthews of South Boston died Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2012, at Runt and Pratt Adult Care in Lynchburg at the age of 87.

Betty Bradley Bennett

Betty Bradley Bennett, age 59 of 108 Hollyberry Drive, Gretna died Monday, Dec. 17, 2012, at her residence.

Virginia Norman Patterson

Mrs. Virginia Norman Patterson of South Boston died Sunday, Dec. 16, 2012, at the Somerset. She was born in South Boston on Jan. 14, 1914 and was 98 years old. She was the daughter of the late Wariner Winfield Norman and Lena Rye Norman and was married to the late Von Hindenburg Patterson Sr. She partnered with her husband with several business enterprises and was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church.

John Irvin Crews

John Irvin Crews died peacefully Dec. 17, 2012 at age 97.  Born Aug. 24, 1915 in the hamlet of Saxe to Walter Henry Crews and Mabel Jeremy Crews, John I., as he was affectionately called, was married to the late Jane Wilkinson Crews of South Boston.

Annirene W. Caune

Annirene W. Caune, 81, of Huntersville, N.C. died Dec. 17, 2012 at the Huntersville Oaks. She was born Feb. 23, 1931 in Halifax to the late William and Isabella Whitt. She was a member of First Baptist Charlotte and attended the Dan Jackson Sunday school class. She was a realtor at Allen Tate-SouthPark for 16 years.
