James ‘Jimmy’ Craddock Owen

James “Jimmy” Craddock Owen, 71, of Clover, husband of Peggy Bryant Owen, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June, 17, 2014, at McGuire Veterans Hospital in Richmond. Jimmy was born in Halifax County on Oct. 16, 1942 to the late Robert Alexander and Florida Allen Owen. He served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict, and was a retired mechanic. Jimmy attended Grace Baptist Church.

Joyce Cranford Whitt

Mrs. Joyce Cranford Whitt of South Boston died Wednesday, June 18, 2014, at her home. She was born in Tarboro, North Carolina, on April 11, 1934 and was 80 years of age. She was the daughter of the late Roy Cranford and Minnie Minton Cranford and is survived by her husband, Lacy Roosevelt Whitt. Mrs. Whitt was a member of Cherry Hill United Methodist Church.

Barbara DeJarnette Holland

Barbara DeJarnette Holland, born in Halifax County, passed away June 17, 2014 at her home surrounded by her family. She was the daughter of the late Blanche G. and Richard P. DeJarnette. She was predeceased by one sister, Beatrice D. Twine; and three brothers, Jennings B. DeJarnette, A.T. DeJarnette, and Waverly E. DeJarnette.
