Robert “Bobby” Lee Clements of Ardmore, Okla., formerly of Halifax County, died June 29, 2013 at the age of 57 in Oklahoma City Hospital.

Merlene Wade Hardie

Merlene Wade Hardie of Halifax died Tuesday, July 9, 2013, at Halifax Regional Hospital. She was born in Halifax County on March 25, 1936 and was 77 years old. She was the daughter of the late Jimmy Thornton Wade and the late Ozelia Hendricks Wade and married to the late John William Hardie for 58 years.

William Richard ‘Bill’ Murray Jr.

William Richard “Bill” Murray Jr.,  50,  of 168 Clement Avenue, Danville,  died at his residence  Monday,  July 8, 2013.  Born in Halifax County on Aug. 21, 1962, he was the son of William Richard Murray Sr. and Nell Jones Murray, both deceased.  He had worked as a welder, and he enjoyed walking on Riverwalk Trail with his faithful dog, Telly.  

James Edward Dunaway

Mr. James Edward Dunaway of 12188 Chatham Road, Java, died Wednesday, July 3, 2013, at Halifax Regional Hospital.  

Gerald Stephen Endler

Mr. Gerald Stephen Endler of Dexter, Mich., died July 4, 2013 at the Conway Medical Center in Myrtle Beach, S.C.  He was born in Washington, D.C. on Jan. 21, 1958 and was 55 years old.  

Geraldine Coleman Dixon

Mrs. Geraldine Coleman Dixon of 1056 Pitt Trail, Vernon Hill died Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at her residence at the age of 77.

Sallie Frances Penick Sims

Mrs. Sallie Frances Penick Sims of River Road, South Boston died Friday, June 28, at Berry Hill Health & Rehabilitation Center at the age of 90.

Joe Wilson Watts Jr.

Mr. Joe Wilson Watts Jr. of 1051 McDonald Road, Scottsburg died June 26, 2013 at his home. He was born in Halifax County on Aug. 8, 1935 and was 77 years old. He was the son of the late Joe Wilson Watts Sr. and Annie Bell Ferrell Watts and was married to Shirley Kathreen Walden Watts who survives. He was a farmer and a member of Scottsburg Baptist Church.

Walter Dwight Waller Sr.

Mr. Walter Dwight Waller Sr. of 1050 Carriage End Way, South Boston died Wednesday, June 26, 2013, at Halifax Regional Hospital. He was born in Halifax County on May 31, 1948 and was 65 years of age. He was preceded in death by his parents, Woodman Waller and Gladys Walker Waller, and he is survived by his wife, Mitzie Overby Waller.
