Mrs. Helen Woody Terry of River Road, South Boston died Monday, March 10, 2014, at Berry Hill Nursing Home at the age of 78.
Mrs. Terry was born in Halifax County on July 18, 1935 to the late Mr. Granville Woody and Mrs. Duretha Jones Woody. She was married to the late Mr. Henry Terry Jr. and was a member of Williams Temple C.M.E. Church.
She is survived by one daughter, Ms. Gwendolyn Terry, of South Boston; three sons, Mr. James Terry and wife Flossie of Clover, Mr. Robert Terry and wife Mary Alice of South Boston and Mr. Steven Terry and wife Amber of Danville; one brother, Mr. Granville Woody Jr., of N.Y.; four sisters, Ms. Rebecca Fabian, Ms. Rosa Williams and Mrs. Virginia Lipscomb and husband Earnest, all of South Boston, and Ms. Inez Miller of N.Y.; eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Terry was preceded in death by one son, Mr. Henry Terry III; three brothers, Mr. Charles Woody, Mr. Linwood Woody and Mr. Walter Woody; three sisters, Mrs. Carolyn Williams, Ms. Eva Woody and Ms. Jean Woody.
Funeral services for Mrs. Helen Woody Terry will be Saturday, March 15, 2014, at 1 p.m. at Williams Temple C.M.E. Church with the Rev. George Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family is receiving friends at the residence, 7206 River Road, South Boston.
