On Sunday, March 9, 2014, “BJ” Benton went home to be with the Lord. She passed away in the company of her family in Boca Raton, Fla.
“BJ,” as she was known to all her friends and family, spent the last 12 years living in Pompano Beach, Fla. She was born in Goldsboro, N.C., and she graduated from the University of North Carolina.
She invested her working years building Hedderly-Benton’s Office City, but she dedicated herself to raising her family in South Boston.
She created a strong legacy and is survived by her two children and spouses, Beth and Jonathan Wright of Parkland, Fla., and Michael and Lisa Benton of Lighthouse Point, Fla.; as well as Mimi’s little three grand angels, Cameron, Caroline and Savanna.
She was a devoted fan of the Carolina Tarheels, who loved reading and spending time with her three grandchildren, the “angels” who were the light of her life.
BJ had a heart of love, a spirit of perseverance, and a beautiful soul that will be missed for eternity.
