On Wednesday, March 5, 2014, John Edward Lewis Davis peacefully transitioned and departed this life. He was 72 years old.
Ed, as he was so affectionately known, was born in Halifax County on July 4, 1941. He was the son of Leroy Davis and the late Beatrice Coleman Davis. He was a patient, caring and committed servant who professed Christ at an early age and joined County Line Baptist Church. Many years later, he became a member of First Baptist Church of Highland Park.
He leaves to cherish his memories his beloved and faithfully committed wife of 50 years, Phyllis G. Davis; two committed sons, Carroll E. Davis and Olando L. Davis; a faithful daughter, Agatha Davis Johnson; a dedicated son-in-law, Bertinus P. Johnson; two caring daughters-in-law, Lonnise Davis and Michelle Davis; a foster son, Thomas Parker; an ex-daughter-in-law,
Wendy Kelly; nine loving grandchildren, Olando Spencer, Deveon Tyler, Richard Fields, Nicole Kelly, Bertinus Johnson II, Carroll Davis Jr., Jasmin Johnson, Amira Davis and Jada Davis; two great-grandchildren, Trenity Brooks and Deveon Tyler Jr.; two committed brothers, Clarence L. Davis and Lawrence E. Davis; five loving sisters, Selestine Easley, Margaret Easley,
Charlotte Jones, Rosa Logan and Mary Ann Crawley.
He was also loved by his seven brothers-in-law, Lewis Easley, Johnny Easley, Vince Logan, John Crawley, Frankie Jones, George Elder and the late Ronnie Elder; five sisters-in-law, Shirley Davis, Estelle Davis, Naomi Delores Elder, Shiridean Elder and Barbara Elder; an ex-sister-in-law, Geraldine Davis; a host of
beloved aunts, uncles, cousins and countless nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church of Highland Park in Landover, Md. on Friday, March 14, 2014, at 11 a.m. with visitation of the body beginning at 10 a.m.
Burial will follow at Fort Lincoln Cemetery in Brenwood, Md.
