Mrs. Carrie Bell Duffey of South Boston died Friday, March 7, 2014, at Halifax Regional Hospital.
She was born Aug. 9, 1926 and was 87 years of age. She was the daughter of the late James Lacks and Mollie Overby Lacks and was married to the late James Willie Duffey.
Mrs. Duffey attended Mount Laurel United Methodist Church and was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy.
Her survivors include three children, Carolyn Wilson and Glenn of Clover, James Lewis Duffey and William Ray Duffey and Bonnie, both of South Boston; eight grandchildren, Sandy Wilson Cabaniss and Derek of Clover, Cindy Wilson Collins and Eddie of Crystal Hill, Shawnee Wilson Cline and Dan of South Boston, Johnny Wilson of Clover, Tasha Duffey Barton and Stan of Winston-Salem, N.C., Misty Duffey Jordan, Brooke Duffey Pumphrey and Cody Duffey, all of South Boston; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Nine brothers and one sister also preceded Mrs. Duffey in death.
Funeral services were held at Powell Funeral Home chapel Sunday, March 9, 2014, at 3 p.m. with burial at Mount Laurel United Methodist Church cemetery.
The family received friends at Powell Funeral Home for one hour prior to the service.
