Edwill Earl Owen

Mr. Edwill Earl Owen of Nathalie died Monday, Feb. 24, 2014, at Halifax Regional Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born Nov. 24, 1933 in Halifax County to the late Edward Bernard Owen and Edith Virginia Wade Owen. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sara Inez Rudder Owen. 

Mr. Owen was a gifted musician and could play several instruments. He was a member of the group Masters Four and the Liberty Band. He was a very loving and devoted husband, brother, and father, and was very well respected and loved by the community.

Mr. Owen was a member of Liberty Christian Church. He was also a founding member and past chief of the Liberty Volunteer Fire Department and was retired from ABB. He also was a member of French Masonic Lodge AF and AM and was a member of the Liberty WOW Lodge.

Survivors include two sons, James E. Owen and wife Debbie of Nathalie and David M. Owen and wife Cindy of South Boston; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Gaye Owen Stevens and husband Ronnie of Appomattox and Linda Owen Tuck of Concord; and one brother, Marvin Price Owen and wife Helen of Lynchburg.

In addition to his parents, one son, George Edward Owen, also preceded Mr. Owen in death.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Feb. 28, 2014, at 2 p.m. at Liberty Christian Church with the Revs. Tim Owen and LeRoy Davis conducting the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Masonic Rites.

The family will receive friends at Powell Funeral Home on Thursday from 7:00 until 8:30 p.m. and other times at his home, 3099 Liberty Road, Nathalie.
