William “Tad” Cosby Lowery, 80, of Lynchburg passed away Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2014, at Virginia Baptist Hospital. He was the husband of the late Gladys Satterfield Lowery.
Born March 28, 1933 in South Boston, he was the son of the late Emmon Cosby and Clara Elizabeth Yancey Lowery. He was retired from G.E. after over 30 years of service. He was a veteran of the United States Army and a member of Black Walnut Baptist Church. Tad loved to play his guitar, especially his bass guitar.
He is survived by three sons, Archie Edward Cook Jr. of Savannah, Ga., Anthony Wayne Lowery of Lynchburg and Timothy Lynn Lowery and wife of Monroe; two sisters, Reba Anthony and her husband, Mark, of Evington, and Ruth Bowen of Clarksville.
A funeral service will be held Sunday, Feb. 23, 2014, at 3 p.m. at Black Walnut Baptist in Cluster Springs with the Revs. Raymond Wooten and Jason Perdieu officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
