Averette Perry Myers, 85, of Alberta passed into eternal rest on Feb. 14, 2014.
Born in Clover to William Maurice Myers and Fannie Canada Myers on Oct. 3, 1928, he attended the University of Richmond and was a 1953 graduate of the School of Pharmacy of the Medical College of Virginia.
He was pharmacist and proprietor of the Alberta Drug Store for 39 years.
Averette was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Alberta, the Virginia Pharmaceutical Association and the South Hill Masonic Lodge #297.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Vernie Myers Bohannan, of South Boston; and a brother, William Maurice Myers Jr., of Newport News.
Averette is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jacquelyn Jones Myers; a daughter, Jacquelyn Lula Myers, of Goochland; a son, A. Perry Myers Jr., and wife Anne of Midlothian; his grandchildren, Averette Perry Myers III (Trey) and Mary Elizabeth Myers of JMU and Michael Gaines Ballato of UVA; and two nieces and one nephew.
Averette was a gentle, soft-spoken man who was happiest when at home surrounded by his loving family along with his garden, birds and animals, which inhabited nature’s beauty there.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at Bethel United Methodist Church, 45 Church Street in Alberta followed by a reception in the church fellowship hall.
Interment will follow at 3 p.m. in the Virgilina Cemetery in Virgilina.
