Mrs. Bernice Newcomb Wade of Clover died Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014, at her home.
She was born in Charlotte County on June 23, 1937 and was 76 years of age. She was the daughter of the late Alonza Lewis Newcomb and Nora Scott Newcomb and is survived by her husband, Willie Lee Wade.
Mrs. Wade was a member of Mount Laurel United Methodist Church and the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 8243.
She is survived by her husband, Willie Lee Wade, of Clover; one son, Willie L. “Billy” Wade Jr., and wife Arlene of Crystal Hill; one sister, Elsie N. Grove, of Powhatan; one brother, Ray Newcomb, of Alton; two grandchildren, Jarrett Wade of Halifax and Jordan Wade of Scottsburg.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Sandra Wade Crews, one sister, Catherine N. Heath, and two brothers, Earl and A.B. Newcomb.
Funeral services for Mrs. Bernice Newcomb Wade will be held at Powell Funereal Home Chapel on Friday, Feb. 7, 2014, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Don Pizzeck officiating. Burial will follow in the Clover Cemetery.
The family received friends at Powell Funeral Home, Thursday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and other times at the home of her granddaughter, Jordan Wade, 1025 Temple Hill Road, Scottsburg.
