Mr. Thomas Lowery Cole of 2222 E. Hyco Road, South Boston died Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014, at the age of 79. He was born in Halifax County on June 8, 1934 to the late Thomas W. Cole and the late Mary Lou Lowery Cole. Mr. Cole was a retired truck driver for Merita Bread Co., a member of the Hyco Road Ruritan Club, a member of Black Walnut Baptist Church and a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Survivors include, one daughter, Sharon C. Richardson and husband Carl of Hillsboro, N.C.; one son, Warren K. Cole and wife Penny of Virgilina; one brother, Henry A. Cole and wife Alice of Virgilina; two sisters, Margaret C. “Winnie” Eudy and husband Roger of South Boston and Lois C. Dunlow of Portsmouth; and four grandchildren, Jamie N. Richardson, Jennifer M. Richardson, James T. Cole, and Katie D. Cole.
In addition to his parents, three sisters, Cleo C. Procter, Christine Cole and Maxine “Buddy” Huneycutt, also preceded Mr. Cole in death.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Feb. 7, 2014, at 3 p.m. at Brooks Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Lee Brown officiating.
The family received friends Thursday, Feb. 6, 2014, from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m. at Brooks Funeral Home and other times at his home.
