Ruth Elizabeth Weiser Mitchell

Mrs. Ruth Elizabeth Weiser Mitchell of Weston, Fla., formerly of Halifax County, died Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014, in Hollywood, Fla. She was born in Sharon, Pa. on Nov. 16, 1936, the daughter of the late Charles Weiser and Alma Hoffman Weiser.  She was married to the late James Mitchell.

Mrs. Mitchell and her husband were members of Dan River Baptist Church.

Survivors include three children and families, one daughter, Deatra Myers and husband Chris of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., their children, son Jeremy DeFazio and wife Stephanie of West Palm Beach, Fla., daughter Shelna Gratzol and husband Otto of Ft. Lauderdale, and son Clint Myers and wife Maggie of Ft. Lauderdale; son Don Hando and wife India of Plantation, Fla., their children, Brandon Hando of Plantation, a CPA and graduate of Florida Atlantic University, and a daughter, Britni Hando, a nursing student in Ft. Lauderdale; son Dean Mitchell and wife Alysia of Lake Wylie, S.C., their two daughters, Lauren Mitchell, a college student in Charleston, S.C., and Kristen Mitchell of Lake Wiley, S.C.; great-, Haley, Hayden, Logan and Alexis; one sister, Martha Wall of San Diego, Calif.; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Two brothers Chuck Weiser and Harold (Red) Weiser, and one sister, Esther Hart, also preceded Mrs. Mitchell in death.

Services for Mrs. Mitchell will be held Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014, at 1 p.m. at Dan River Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Frakes officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the church from 11 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. prior to the service.

There will be a catered meal in the fellowship hall of the church following the service.
