Mrs. Alberta C. Hill Wilborne, known as “Rosa,” of Clover peacefully departed this life on Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014, in South Boston.
Mrs. Wilborne was born on Jan. 15, 1927 in Nathalie to the late Elizabeth Hill. For her entire career, she worked as a seamstress. She began at Jonbil Manufacturing in Chase City and later transferred to South Boston Manfacturing from which she retired.
She leaves to cherish her memory one son, Raymond A. Wilborne, of Danville; two daughters, Joyce W. Smith (Charles “Smitty”) of Drakes Branch and Charlene W. Bowman of Drakes Branch; one son-in-law, Ernest Coleman, of Mt. Laurel; 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends, including one special friend, Johnny “Lucky” Traynham; three special daughters, Ophelia Traynham, Drusilla Cousins Rice and Roslyn Austin; and devoted caretaker Delois Stump.
In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Wilborne, two children, James Hill and Delois Wilborne Coleman, and one son-in-law, James C. Bowman Jr.
Funeral services for Mrs. Alberta Wilborne will be Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2014, at 2 p.m. at Bethel Grove Baptist Church in Clover. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Public viewing was held Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014, from 1 to 6 p.m. at the chapel of Dupee’s Funeral Home. The family received friends at the chapel from 6 to 8 p.m.
