Mitchell Allen Keeton, husband of Doris Susan Smith Keeton, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2014, one day shy of his 56 birthday, in Columbus, Ohio.
Allen was born Jan. 30, 1958 in South Boston to the late Charlie Harden Keeton Sr. and Sally Elizabeth Newton Keeton.
Not only was he a loving husband, father and grandfather, but he was also a dedicated truck driver. He was employed with Taylor Truck Lines, Inc.
Allen loved the farm life and was a dedicated worker. Trucks and horses were his passion.
In addition to his wife, Allen is survived by his daughter, Catherine “Beth” Keeton, of Halifax, and granddaughter Haillie Elizabeth Martin, also of Halifax. He also is survived by his sisters and brothers-in-law, Regina and Lawrence Oakley of Oxford, N.C. and Shirley and Charles Kaywood; brother-in-law Samuel Oakley; sister-in-law Kathy S. Keeton, all of Nelson; and mother-in-law Catherine H. Smith of Virgilina.
Allen was pre-deceased by his sister, Barbara K. Oakley, brother Junior Keeton and nephews Dwayne Oakley and Jason Kaywood.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Nelson Baptist Church with the Rev. Jim McAlister officiating. Interment will follow in the Keeton Family Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Monday at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home.
