Mrs. Mary Sue Luckett Tuck of the Liberty community passed away on Sunday, Jan. 26, 2014, at The Woodview. She was born in Vicksburg, Miss. on March 18, 1927 and was 86 years old. She was the daughter of the late Robert Gordon Luckett and Nila Wedgewood Luckett and was married to the late John Franklin Tuck Jr.
She was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church and the Liberty Christian Church and was retired from the Halifax County Public Library and the Halifax County Department of Social Services.
She was a graduate of Northeast Louisiana University, was a life member and past president of the Halifax Woman’s Club, was a life member of the Banister Hill Garden Club, was a former chairman of the Halifax County-South Boston Regional Library Board and was a literacy and GED tutor.
Survivors include two daughters, Amy Tuck Barnes and husband Scott of Halifax and Lydia Tuck Connelly and husband Michael of Richmond; two grandchildren, Colleen B. Herndon and husband Johnathan of Farmville and Patrick Barnes of Halifax.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2014, at 2 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tim Owen and Rev. Ed Rigg conducting the service. Burial will follow in the Liberty Christian Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Powell Funeral Home on Tuesday for one hour prior to the funeral and other times at the home of Amy and Scott Barnes, 1037 Laura Court, Halifax.
