Virginia L. Manning, loving mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and great-grandmother at the age of 90, passed away peacefully at Wilmington Hospital in Delaware on Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014.
Born in Alton, Virginia was the daughter of the late Mattie Page (Bradshaw) and James B. Loftis Sr. She worked as a bookkeeper with Allied Petroleum and SAC Tires until her retirement. She was a volunteer for many years at Christiana Hospital, devoting over 1000 hours.
Her husband, Dallas W. Manning; and her daughter, Katherine Collins, predeceased her. Her sister, Page Hunt; and brother, J.B. Loftis Jr., also predeceased her.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Lynn M. and Dennis Free of Indonesia and Lorrie M. and Steve Morrison of Bonita Springs, Fla.; her son-in-law, Samuel A. Collins III of Hockessin, Del.; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Collins Thompson, Jason Collins and Amy Collins Libonate, Brian Free and Bethany Free Nanulaitta and Erin and Kimberly Morrison; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be private.
Mealey Funeral Home in Wilmington, Del. is in charge of arrangements.
