Tony Dale Moorefield, age 66, of 1035 Guill Town Road, Clover died Thursday, Dec. 19, 2013, at Lynchburg General Hospital. He was born in Halifax County on Nov. 28, 1947, the son of the late George Filmore Moorefield and the late Elsie Snead Moorefield.
Mr. Moorefield was a retired corrections officer of Camp 23 after 25 years of service.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Virginia, of the home; one son, Barry Dale Moorefield, of Nathalie; one granddaughter, Kaitlyn Moorefield Cole, of South Boston; two stepsons, Robert Lankford and wife Wendy of Red Oak and Andrew Mark Lankford and wife Angie of Clover; one stepdaughter, Hilda Jane Kuhn, of Lynchburg; two step-granddaughters, Cassie Lankford Hatcher of Red Oak and Heather Dawn Lankford of Clover; one step-grandson, Chad Andrew Lankford, of Clover; one step-great-grandchild, Scarlett Ava Hatcher, of Red Oak; four sisters, Zemula Pickeral and husband Bill and Betty Jane Cooper and husband Cash, all of Rocky Mount, Ida Wilmouth of Scottsburg, and Joyce Farmer of Java.
In addition to his parents, three brothers, Chester, George and Harvey Moorefield, also preceded Mr. Moorefield in death.
The family will receive friends at Brooks Funeral Home on Saturday, Dec. 21, from 7 until 8:30 p.m. and other times at his home.
Funeral services for Mr. Moorefield will be Sunday, Dec. 22, at 2 p.m. at Brooks Funeral Home chapel. The Revs. John Mann and Tommy Bryant will officiate. Burial will be in Clover Cemetery.
