John Marshall Wilmoth Jr., the son of John and Dorothy Wilmoth, died Dec. 11, 2013 at Halifax Regional Hospital at the age of 70. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Delilah, and his father, John M. Wilmoth Sr.
John Marshall is survived by his mother; three siblings, Eileen Thatcher, Linda Wilmoth and Wayne Wilmoth; three children, Michael Wilmoth, daughter-in-law Angela Wilmoth, daughters Cristie Carter and Carrie Briscoe-Peeden and son-in-law Geoffrey Peeden; nine grandchildren, Brian and Decker, children of Michael, Joshua, Zachary, Sidney, and Gracie, children of Cristie, Courtney, Bailey, and Kelsey, children of Carrie; one great-grandchild, Jaxxon; and two nephews, Will and John Clay.
John Marshall also is survived by an aunt, Blanche Bare, of Ft. Payne, Ala.; and an uncle, Roger Buchanan, of Monroe.
John Marshall honorably served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam. He enjoyed his time with family and CB-ing.
Memorial services will held Sunday, Dec. 15, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Brooks Funeral Home in South Boston. The family will receive friends and neighbors at his mother’s home after the service.
